ANGUISH From Salvation, Deceased And Enslavement CD (2026 Hung Rotten Records, Angka Kematian Production)
You might have heard it enough, but I will say it again. After 26 years of prolonged existence this is the debut album from them. Finally, you might be thinking. Yet those years are not being spent unwisely though; between them ANGUISH had some other form of releases aplenty, and had consistently playing shows whenever the circumstances permit. Alas we are not to delve on those years in these columns, they are all strictly reserved for this album, "From Salvation, Deceased And Enslavement". And from the very first moment of it I should warn you that this is not a death Metal album that you are expecting bang your head 'comfortably' too. ANGUISH concoction of death Metal in this one is of the type that wished to pummels you deep into the ground, and keep on doing that until there's nothing left to humiliate on. You cannot hangguk at ease to this one, it intends to ketuk kepala anda sampai pecah (got it?). If you need some reference, think that kind of barrage you get from something by BRODEQUIN, that kind of death Metal yes it is. No let off from the start, ANGUISH just keep on punishing until the listening session adjourned. Such momentum are consistent throughout the entire length of "From Salvation..." and that is what you should expect it to be. My only (and constantly nagging) gripe is the utterly raw and seemingly bare minimum production of this album, so much so that at times I think it eats up way too much than it should be allowed to. If I have my way it is an unquestioned desire to witness ANGUISH destroying the path with a more appropriate, 'controlled' (for lack of better word for it), yet still punishing production it very much deserve. It is a demand that should be swiftly granted, given the path that ANGUISH threading on is not the one commonly accustomed with the local extreme Metal underground and one that should be admired.
